Following the sad news of the death of Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the Inquiry’s first preliminary hearing, which was scheduled for 20 September, has been postponed. This preliminary hearing for Module 1, which will examine the UK’s resilience and preparedness for the coronavirus pandemic will take place at 10am on Tuesday 4 October.

At the hearing, the Inquiry Chair, Baroness Heather Hallett will hold a short period of silence and reflection to commemorate the far reaching impact the pandemic has had on everyone’s lives. There will also be an update from the Inquiry Counsel on Core Participant applications and the Inquiry will set out in more detail the Inquiry’s plans for Module 1.

The preliminary hearing will be streamed on the Inquiry’s YouTube account (opens in new tab). Preliminary hearings are to agree to procedural matters. The Inquiry will hear evidence for Module 1 at public hearings in spring 2023.

We will publish a transcript of the hearing the same day that the hearing concludes. A recording of the hearing will be published on the Inquiry’s website at a later date.

The preliminary hearing is open to the public and will be held at 13 Bishop’s Bridge Road, London, W2 6BU. Places inside the hearing centre will be available on a first come, first served basis.
