Next week will see the Inquiry hold preliminary hearings for two of its investigations:
- A second preliminary hearing for the Inquiry’s investigation into the ‘Care sector’ (Module 6) on Wednesday 5 February.
- A second preliminary hearing for the Inquiry’s investigation into ‘Test, Trace and Isolate’ (Module 7) on Thursday 6 February.
The hearings will take place at the Inquiry’s Hearing Centre, Dorland House, London, W2 6BU (map) and both begin at 10:30am.
At preliminary hearings, the Inquiry Chair makes decisions about how investigations will run. The Inquiry does not hear evidence at these hearings. There will be submissions from the Counsel to the Inquiry and Core Participants to help prepare for the public hearings, where evidence is heard.
The sixth investigation will consider the impact and consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and government decision-making on those living and working within the adult social care sector including on those providing unpaid care. This includes examining the steps taken in adult residential and nursing homes to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and looking at the capacity of the adult social care sector to respond to the pandemic.
The seventh investigation will look at, and make recommendations on, the policies and strategies developed and deployed to support the test, trace and isolate system by the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations. It will consider the decisions made by key bodies, other options or technologies that were available and factors that may have influenced public compliance.
More details are included in the provisional scopes for Module 6 and Module 7.
The hearing is open to the public to attend – information on how to attend is published on our website.
Preliminary hearings can be watched on the Inquiry’s YouTube channel, subject to a three minute delay.
